I have been a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Hendra Northgate Parish for 12 years after moving from Our Lady of the Way Petrie Parish in December 2004. Lorelei and I have been regular Eucharistic Ministers for 4 years. I nominated for a role with the Pastoral Council so that I could actively contribute to the ongoing growth of the Parish and help develop it into a vibrant and welcoming community.
I have been a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Hamilton for approx. sixty years. I have been a member of the St Cecilia’s parish council for approx. twenty years and chairman for approx. ten years. I have been attending the Hendra parish finance meetings for the past year, while St. Cecilia’s was administered by the Parish Priest at Hendra prior to the amalgamation of the two parishes. I have recently become a member of the Mother of Mercy Parish Pastoral Council.
I worked in our family owned transport business doing most of the office work and some administration. I commenced there in 1973 and retired in 2005.
I live in Banyo and have been a parishioner at Our Lady Help of Christians, Hendra for approximately 18 years. I have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. I am a retired Catholic School Business Manager. I worked in Catholic schools for 40 years. I am currently a member of the Parish Liturgy Committee and I am the Secretary of the Parish Council. I have been in the parish for 20 years. We were drawn to the friendly and warm welcome our young family received from the parish community. We have increasingly taken active roles within the community which has helped grow our relationships with other members. As a member of the parish council I hope we can assist Father in continuing the tradition of being a welcoming and inclusive community.
I have been a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Hendra Parish for 12 years and I have served as a reader for approximately 4 years. I joined the Parish Pastoral Council in 2015 and am a past Chairperson of the Council. I look forward to continuing to bring the Parish Pastoral Council on a new journey to invigorate Mother of Mercy Parish and contribute to the faith formation of unchurched young people. My area of work is in Workplace Health and Safety and am currently a QLD WHS Advisor.
I have been in the parish for 20 years and I was baptised at St John’s in 1997. With my family I have been actively involved in the parish and my ministry has included altar serving, reading, participation in the choir and preparing the powerpoint slides for weekend masses. I am currently studying a bachelor of podiatry at Queensland University of Technology.
My wife Mary and I have been in the Hendra Parish since 2006 when we came to Brisbane from Townsville for me to take up the role of Executive Director of the Queensland Catholic Education Commission. I have worked in Catholic Education for most of my working life in various roles. With now nine grandchildren in the broader Brisbane region and recently retired from my education role I am a newcomer to the Parish council and I look forward to being involved.
Hello, Jason here! My family and I have been with the Hendra & Northgate Parish since 2007. I’ve been involved in the Parish School and I currently am a Eucharistic Minister. I’m studying at the University of Queensland, a Bachelors of Engineering degree and hopefully an Engineer soon . I’ve always been interested in cricket and always up for a chat.
Hello this is Pat Shine and I have been in this Parish for 16 years and take part in SVDP and Piety Stall and on the Sacristy Roster, which I feel honoured to work with in the parish. My greatest passion is for the Word of God to live in all of our hearts as we become more of a family of God within the Parish, and to get to know each other as a family does, so we can reach out and help where help is needed.
Rob Nulley, 58 years of age. Married to Estrella for 26 years. We have been members of the St. John’s community for 9 years, after moving here from the northern suburb of Brighton. For most of those years we were registered with Banyo Nundah Parish, for which I still organise the roster for the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration held there. After accepting to be part of the Parish Pastoral Council, I have volunteered to be the representative of Our Lady Help of Christians at the North East Deanery meetings. I look forward to the challenges involved for the growth and development of our parish as it enters a new phase with the proposed amalgamation with St Cecilia Parish.
For my entire life I have had a close association with St. Cecilia’s. I was baptised there, attended primary school and later was married in the church which has always been special to me. Although I haven’t lived in the Parish for over 40 years I have stayed ‘faithful’ to her. I have a son and a daughter and three grand-daughters. I spent most of my working life in accounting and now I am happily retired. Each week for the past eight years I have volunteered as an Airport Ambassador at Brisbane Airport, a role which I find most satisfying. I feel blessed to be able to work with Father Paul and other members of the Church Council and take St Cecilia’s into her second century.
My name is Duncan Maitland and I am very new to the Parish as I am Acting Principal at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Primary School for 2017. I am married to Maree and have 4 children, Will, Lucas, Ava and Hugo. I was previously an active member and reader at Holy Cross Parish Redcliffe. I am very much enjoying the welcoming culture of our new Mother of Mercy parish and look forward to contributing into the future
My name is Sr. Monika Bury. I am originally from Poland. As a member of religious congregation – Missionary Sisters of Christ the King for Polish Migrants (MChR), I came to Australia in 1999 for my missionary ministry. I have been working for Polish Communities in Brisbane and Sydney in various ministries and in an Australian parish at Gymea, NSW. After completion of my study of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) in Sydney, I worked in an aged care facility. Last year I returned to Brisbane, and I was accepted for the position of the Pastoral and Sacramental Ministry Coordinator in the parish at Hendra. I am willing to learn my new role and contribute in the spiritual growth of our community so we may all be witnesses to Jesus and His Gospel.
